G. Tyge Payne is an Assistant Professor of
Strategic Management at Texas Tech University. Dr. Payne returned to TTU in 2006 after four years as an Assistant
Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds a PhD in Strategic Management and an MBA, both from
Texas Tech University. He also has a BS in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and has been a
registered pharmacist since 1994.
Dr. Payne’s research interests include organization-environment fit/misfit, interorganizational
relationships, competitive dynamics, and corporate entrepreneurship. He has authored or co-authored numerous publications
, which appear in such outlets as Academy of Management Review, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Health Care Management
Review, Journal of Business Ethics, Organization Science, and Technology Analysis & Strategic Management. Dr. Payne has
also been the recipient of several reviewer awards for his service to the strategic management and entrepreneurship
academic communities; these include four Best Reviewer Awards from the Academy of Management (2001, 2002, 2003, & 2004)
and three Best Reviewer Awards from the Southern Management Association (2001, 2002 & 2006). He also currently serves as
a review board member for the Journal of Small Business Management.
