Personal Information :

     

     G. Tyge Payne is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at Texas Tech University. Dr. Payne returned to TTU in 2006 after four years as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds a PhD in Strategic Management and an MBA, both from Texas Tech University. He also has a BS in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and has been a registered pharmacist since 1994. 


     Dr. Payne’s research interests include organization-environment fit/misfit, inter-organizational relationships, firm-level and corporate entrepreneurship, and venture capitalism. He has authored or co-authored numerous publications, which appear in such outlets as Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Health Care Management Review, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Small Business Management, and Organization Science, among others. Dr. Payne has also been the recipient of several reviewer awards for his service to the strategic management and entrepreneurship academic communities; these include five Best Reviewer Awards from the Academy of Management (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008) and three Best Reviewer Awards from the Southern Management Association (2001, 2002 & 2006). He also currently serves as a review board member for the Journal of Small Business Management and Journal of Management.  


     This year (2008-2009), Dr. Payne is serving as the Strategic Management / Organization Theory / International Management Track Chair for the Southern Management Association. Also, Dr. Payne has recently been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to teach and do research in the Southeastern European country of Moldova. There he will be studying the effects of corruption on entrepreneurship and small business strategy in emerging economies.
